We are taught that it’s important to be respectful, yet the practice of questioning a couple’s decision to not have a family is still openly frowned upon. A woman who doesn’t want children is still considered abnormal, a childless man is thought to be selfish and immature.

It is not the business of anyone but the couple (and potentially their doctors) whether they should decide to have children. That means it’s none of your business, so think before you utter any of these condescending phrases to a childless/childfree person.

See also: don’t tell me that I’ll “find a nice boy and settle down.” I will damn well settle down with whoever I want, whenever I think I’m ready to.

Also getting told that you should get married when you don’t want to/you are going to wait for a long time.

Sick of people around here telling me to make my dad a grandpa.

I always ask them if they’d like to pay all of the expenses and take care of said spawn when I don’t want to.  That shuts them up pretty fast.

As much of a dick-move this is, I still feel it justifies me saying this; I always remind my family my mom’s sister has nearly been thrown out of her house, onto the street because she decided to have a child. She’d been trying for 10 years and didn’t give up and now she’s in a really bad place with her 3 year old and her dick of a husband. My Grandfather snapped at me for saying that and using it as a “faulty excuse”…but he never argued back.

Also, I love how having a child/being bothered by your family members to have a child is basically them saying “Go into this room, ride that man’s dick, and create a child.” Tell me I’m wrong. Go on. Tell me.
